The Fisherstown Festival Brewery  Fri Sat & Sun 26, 27, 28th june

Dont miss the brewery stand at Fisherstown festival!

To add to the atmosphere at the festival we have a rare novelty taking place.

'Kildare Brewers' comprising Kellie and Brendan who run the Maltcracker Championship Brewery in Kildare Town are bringing a full working brewery to the festival for your education and enjoyment.

The brewery is what they call a Pilot brewery of just 50 litre batches (100 pints at a time) and anyone interested in beer, brewing, craft beer and brewing tradition & history will love this fully-working display of beer brewing from the barley to the tradional handpump serving samples!

But theres a lot more besides. At the brewery you can smell the rich malty-malt mashing in the vessel, you can smell the boiling wort (malt and hops) and see all the ingredients from grain to glass. There is real live barley growing in a pot, sprouted barley that the malt is made from and fermenting going on in glass jars so you can witness the whole process from growing the barley to drinking the beer. On this note Brendan says he hopes to have some gold medal winning tasters of real beer, that is, dont expect a pale fizzy flavourless lager! However we are not just handing out beer tasters to anyone!!! You must engage with the brewery and help out e.g stirring the mash, checking the temperature or grinding the malt with the handmill like the in the old times only then you will have earned your sample (over 18's only)...Kids love the wonderful world of brewing...we even have a microscope to show you the yeast cells doing its fermenting tasks. Find out how Guinness is black and Lager is yellow and much more so come on and enjoy the brewery at the festival.

All your brewing and beer questions answered..............Brendan and Kellie are both Certified beer judges and Brendan has numerous qualifications in beer tasting and brewing as well as this they grow their own hops and use Irish malt, making most of their beers 100% Irish as well.

So from growing the ingredients to sampling the end product dont miss out get along to Maltcracker's Fisherstown Brewery
